Not everyone comes to us as a beginner, which is why we provide an Improvers Programme to support those who have some running experience to continue on their journey alongside other like-minded ladies.
Our 8-week Improvers programme is ideal for ladies who can run 5K but would like to improve their speed and technique alongside learning how to manage their own training. We introduce you to different training methods and cross-training and teach you best practice to avoid injury longer term. We will guide you on the first stage of developing your running and equip you with the knowledge and tools to continue on your own.
The programme is led by a qualified run-leader who is there to support you every step of the way. You will have one leader-led session each week as well as additional activities to complete in your own time. You can expect everything from hills and sprint work to easy runs and stretching classes. This course contains training elements that you are unlikely to do on your own, but with the support of a group of ladies it’s not so bad we promise!
We see Athena as more of a community than a club and love the support our members give each other. As part of the Improvers Programme you will have a private WhatsApp group with the other ladies on your programme so you can support each other as well as organise to meet for homework runs. You’ll also be able to access to our members-only Facebook page where you’ll have the support of many Athena ladies who have graduated through this programme themselves.
During the programme you'll also have access to our new Members Area and virtual events, including weekly yoga and strength classes, wellness webinars, discounts and much more.
